About the company

Established in 1992 and based in Southend-on-Sea in Essex, Viasat Connect formerly Enigma Telematics provides industry-leading telematics solutions, enabling its customers to track, trace and monitor their fleet vehicles, construction plant and other remote assets.

In June 2014, Enigma Telematics merged with Viasat Group, the largest independently-owned Italian telematics provider. The newly-merged company looked to bring its combined expertise to the growing insurance market in the UK, as well as build upon its strength in the fleet management and plant & construction sectors.

In 2020 now branded as Viasat Connect its flagship product is Skyline, a web-based vehicle tracking, fleet management and security system. Designed for rapid deployment at low initial cost, Skyline uses GPS and wireless technology to provide companies with real-time data from their remote mobile assets, from trailers and generators to fleet vehicles and heavy-duty, off-road construction equipment.

Skyline has a proven track record of improving fleet performance and reducing costs, achieved by highlighting examples of poor driving behaviour such as heavy breaking, idling and harsh acceleration. By using this information to educate drivers and improve their performance, Skyline can help customers achieve typical cost savings of 7-10%.

Skyline can also dramatically enhance mobile asset security. Working closely with agencies such as the Metropolitan Police’s Plant and Agriculture National Intelligence Unit (PANIU), Viasat Connect has helped to recover an estimated £4.5 million of stolen vehicles and equipment since the launch of Skyline in 2004, including goods stolen in the UK and shipped to the Middle East.
