While apprentices can complete some study at West Herts College, the majority of your time will be spent in the workplace. You’ll be employed in your chosen profession, learning on the job for a minimum of 30 hours a week. You might choose to join an apprenticeship straight from school, as a new venture, or having completed some technical training in your chosen area already.
What will I need?
You need to have an apprenticeship job before you can start your training. New and exciting opportunities are posted every week, accessible on the apprenticeship vacancies website. Most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but some may have additional specific requirements. Apprentices without GCSEs in English and maths will continue to develop their core English and maths skills by undertaking a Functional Skills qualification awarded by NCFE.
Help and support
Throughout your training, our apprenticeship team is here to help and support you. We’ll ensure you receive the right training, complete your assessments and gain your qualification.
